Quo Vadis 2008

E-mail Print PDF

quo_vadis_08_035.jpgOn May 2, 3, and 4 of this year; the actives brothers of Pratt Institute met up with the active alumni for our biennial confrence we call the Quo Vadis.

We discussed the current state of the fraternity (both active and alumni), we reviewed our new member program, our ceremonies, and our constitution among others. One of the last presentations was dedicated to the fraternity website.

As a result we ar launching this new streamlined design which incorporates a regularly updated blog homepage as well as galleries, guestbook, our history / mission, a calendar of events and public relations. We are also launching a brothers-only backend section which allows us to connect with each other and share confidential documents and thoughts with fellow brothers (sorry we can't disclose any more details or invite you to see, fortunately you can see it if you decide to become a brother of our fraternity).

We hope it meets your expectations, its function is to provide you with more frequent and up to date information about our organization and the events we host as well as the brothers who are members.

Trials and Tribulations of iPhone 3g

E-mail Print PDF

iphone-img.jpg After being a loyal T-Mobile customer for 6 years, I became tired of their customer service and call quality/reliability. I decided in mid-April that I was moving to AT&T because toward the end of June I would switch over to the iPhone 3g.

After a year I was sure Apple was giving it significant upgrades to warrant me purchasing it. An AT&T representative told me I could simply switch to the iPhone 3g for the same price everyone else will pay when it comes out at the end of June. Long story short, it was that easy. I eventually got the 16gb black iPhone after waiting in line for 2 ½ hours at the AT&T store on 86th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I was the 27th person on line, and when I was finally allowed in the store I got the last black 16gb iPhone (or so I was told). They wouldn’t sell it to me because I wasn’t eligible for upgrade but after 30 minutes on the phone with AT&T customer relations department they convince the manager to sell it to me for full price $500. I agreed, knowing that I already spoke to AT&T customer relations prior to this and filed a complaint in which they refunded me practically $452 (they gave me a credit of $152 plus 1000 rollover minutes which at 30 cents per minute is $300).

All in all a crazy day because I couldn’t even use the phone until late that evening because the registration server were down. In retrospect I am happy I waited for the phone because now 21 states are sold out and I would most likely need to wait until late August until they are all restocked. In case you were wondering the phone is great, by far the most intuitive and responsive phone/ipod/pc/email/everything I’ve ever used. It blows blackberry’s out of the water.

Mickey Mantle

E-mail Print PDF

img_3244.jpgI was given this autographed Mantle baseball by my grandfather in the early 90's, it was probably 10 years ago that I accidentally lost it.

I blamed my mother for moving it, she blamed our cleaning lady, while my father chose to point the finger at my childhood klepto friends.

After all the years passed, the ball eventually re-sufaced when my mother cleaned out our garage. We found it in a box marked with my mother's handwritting "Mantle ball and baseball cards."

A couple days later I went to James Spence authenticator's in New Jersey and without much hesitation they told me the ball was indeed an authentic signed Mantle ball from the early 90's.
